December 21, 2006 - Seasons' Greetings
From Paula Elliott

Hello Dickie Lakers:
Well I have waited to send the greetings because I was hoping it would look like winter. The lake is open in the middle. The shore line has a light covering of ice but nobody should even attempt to try and walk on it. I can't remember a winter when it has been so mild. Everything is brown. It looks more like early April. The ground is soft so my driveway has ruts.
The Executive wishes everyone Happy Holidays and all the best in 2007.
Paula

October 10, 2006 - Lost Items
From Paula Elliott

The owners of several pieces of furniture that blew off docks during the storm two weeks ago and were found floating or beached at our end of the lake have been returned.
Thanks to Paul and Michelle Cragg for doing the bulk of the lake rescue/salvage work
However, a royal blue Muskoka chair...if anyone thinks it might be theirs, they are welcome to come to # 1395..'The Morrisons' to see if it belongs to them.

Thanks Margaret for bring this to our attention.

Paula

September 26, 2006 - Hydro One Visits Our Lake.
From Bruce Thomas

Just to let you know that about 1:30p.m. today (Tues. Sept. 26), Hydro One paid a visit to the entire lake road (East and West) to assess the damage coming out of Sunday's wind storm. No schedule for bringing about repairs was offered or available but conversation centered around temporarily stringing the downed wires on what is left of the broken poles just to get service restored. Full repairs could then be done as the pressure on crews reduces. Sounded like a good idea but whether or not it will pass their work requirements remains to be seen. Keep watching for updates. Bruce.

September 24, 2006 - Wild winds.
From Paul Breslin

In the wee hours of the night on Sunday September 23 you wake to the crashing bangs and you then hear the howling wind outside. You look out the window to see pine needles falling like rain from the sky. In the morning branches are everywhere and the source of the big bang is found on the deck. The power is off and the phone is not working. Later down the road you see just how strong the wind was that night...

Hello Fellow Dickie Lakers:
After a winter in the south I returned to snow and sun.
I received over the winter two packages from the Township. The first is called "DEVELOPMENT PERMIT BY-LAW 04-180 GOVERNING WATERFRONT PROPERTIES" and the second is "FINAL PARKS MASTER PLAN REPORT".
If you are interested in reading these document I have a copy of them at my place 1137.
Drop by and say hello when you are up at the lake.

March 31, 2006 - Spring
From Brenda & Dave Richards

We would like every one to know that the Robins have arrived
at Dickie lake for another season. The chipmunks are running about, looking for peanuts or sunflower seeds, it is nice to see them awake from their winter sleep.
Although we still have quite a bit of snow, it looks like spring has arrived.

March 7, 2006 - Waiting
From Brenda Richards

We have been experiencing sunshine for the past week, NO SNOW!!!!
The nights are still quite cold but during the day we have the water running down the roads, in small streams.....
The sounds of spring are starting, ever so slightly, but to those of us who have been on Dickie for the whole of the winter, this is truely wonderful.
It won't be long and we will be launching our boats and plunging into the lake....Honest!!!!

March 1, 2006 - 21 days til spring
From Steve Richardson

Hello everyone. Just a quick note to acknowledge our great web site. Spring is just down the road now, though overnight we had another cold one. Minus 22 at 8AM. The sun started setting after 6PM this week so maybe it will warm up some time! Those of you who have not been up to Dickie Lake over the winter should be sure to have your roof checked. I had mine shoveled last week for the first time ever. "A channel" says we had record snowfall in February.

February 8, 2006 - from FL
